Appointment Waitlist

The Appointment Waitlist is located in e-Services under Appointment Availability Subscriptions and allows a customer to sign up to receive an email notification when an appointment type of their choosing becomes available at a specified location. Customers will receive an email notification once per day when an appointment becomes available. Customers will continue to receive notices for their chosen appointment type and location for up to 60 days, or until they have scheduled an appointment.

Worthington Exam Staffing

DVS is going to return to normal staffing of the Worthington satellite exam stations of Luverne, Pipestone, Slayton, and Windom. Effective Dec. 1, 2022, each of the satellite offices will be reopened twice a month, and then on Dec. 19, 2022, the offices will return to the pre-pandemic level of four times a month. Due to staffing constraints this past fall, DVS had moved to staff the Worthington satellite exam stations only once per month.

Driver Services Reminders

Out of State Credentials
Please ensure that you are voiding the Out of State (OS) credential when a customer applies for a Minnesota credential. Individuals cannot possess an active OS credential as well as a Minnesota credential, even as a temporary credential. If the OS credential is lost, annotate it as such in the Void Previous Credential transaction.

Driving Permits
Please ensure that the blue card and driving log are scanned in for all Learner Permit applications, even if they do not appear as required documents.

New Employee Background Checks

Starting today, new employees at driver’s license agents and deputy registrars can process transactions for standard driver’s licenses and IDs while their background check is pending.

After the background check has cleared, new employees can also process REAL ID and EDL/EID transactions.

Mailing Driver’s License Applications to DVS

We conducted a three-month scanning procedures pilot with Stearns County, Blue Earth County and three metro offices. Participating offices continued to scan driver’s license applications into MNDRIVE but did not mail them to the DVS Town Square office. Eliminating the mailing requirement streamlined the process for the pilot offices and DVS, eliminating unnecessary work. We found no issues during the pilot.

Due to the success of the pilot, all scanning offices can stop mailing driver’s license applications to DVS Town Square. Non-scanning offices still need to mail applications to DVS.

Adding Payment Voucher

When using the Add Payment Voucher transaction to record an overpayment (for example, customer writes a check for $40, but the reinstatement fee is only $20), please add a note to the payment. This ensures a more efficient refund process for the customer.

Instructions:

Click Add Note when adding the amount tendered.

Voucher Note 1

Include enough details in the note to expedite the refund and prevent the need for follow-up questions.
