What's New in this Update
- Motorcycle Endorsement Reminder
Motorcycle Endorsement Reminder
A Basic Rider Course (BRC) completion card is not sufficient to obtain a motorcycle endorsement. The applicant must provide the motorcycle instruction permit with skills test stamp before you can process the application to add the endorsement to the driver’s license.
Scan the stamped motorcycle instruction permit into MNDRIVE and return it to the customer. Do not shred the instruction permit.
Oct. 10 IDEMIA Issue
Some offices notified DVS on Monday that they were experiencing problems with their image capture workstations (ICW). IDEMIA was able to resolve the issue quickly once they became aware of it.
You’ll find a sticker on the side of your ICW/PC with the contact information for the IDEMIA helpdesk. Please contact them whenever you experience issues with your ICW.
Signature Pad and Image Capture Workstation Changes
IDEMIA recently made the following changes:
- Signature Pad: Increased the thickness of the applicant’s signature for the same-day issue cards. The signature pads are functioning correctly.
- Image Capture Workstation (ICW): Updated the ICWs to improve efficiency. Minnesota is now running a newer version of WebEnrollment, which reduces the flash delay time.
Residential Lease Agreements
You do not need to scan all pages of a residential lease agreement when a customer provides it as proof of Minnesota residency for a REAL ID application. You only need to scan the pages with the customer’s name, resident address and signatures into MNDRIVE.
How to Void Blue Card
These procedures are effective immediately. Please follow these instructions for applicants under 18 applying for a permit after passing the class D knowledge test:
- Scan the blue card into MNDRIVE - DO NOT shred the blue card.
- VOID the blue card in the DL/ID void perforator.
- Return the blue card to the applicant.

DVS Webpage Translations
Visitors to the DVS website can have the text on many of the webpages translated into Spanish, Somali and Hmong. The exception is the DVS home page at drive.mn.gov and the e-Services applications, like renew tabs, pre-app, check driving status etc. Forms and documents available as PDFs will not translate either.
To translate a DVS webpage:
1. Find the translate tab at the top of the page. Pages without a translate tab cannot be translated.
