State extends expiration date on driver’s licenses and identification cards that expire during peacetime emergency.

Gov. Walz signed a bill into law March 28 that provides an extension for Minnesotans whose driver's licenses or ID cards expire during the peacetime emergency.

DPS-DVS has updated its records to reflect the extension. As a result, the expiration printed on the driver’s license, permit, or identification card will not match the expiration date displayed on the record. Businesses and vendors should accept the driver’s license or identification card even though the card shows it is expired.

DPS-DVS will continue to update its website and Facebook and Twitter pages with additional information.
