COMT Training to be Held in St. Louis County October 29 through November 2, 2018
A Communications Unit Technician (COMT) five-day course is being offered the end of October.
Sponsored by ECN and hosted by St. Louis County, this course will be taught by instructors from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Emergency Communications (OEC).

Location: St. Louis County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), 5735 Old Miller Trunk Highway, Duluth, MN 55811
This course provides introductory and refresher training for the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS) COMT position.
Participants should have a technical communications background with experience in field operations, awareness of fundamental public safety communications technology, and a basic knowledge of applicable Communications Plan.
Attendance is required each day of the course, which will include a hands-on approach to mastering the tasks and skills of a COMT for development of essential core competencies.
Prerequisites include completion of several online courses, as well as pre-course reading materials that will be provided when you register.
Online courses required:
IS-100C, Intro to the Incident Command System
IS-200B, ICS for Single Resources and Initial Incidents
IS-700B, National Incident Management System (NIMS), an Introduction
IS-800C, National Response Framework (NRF)
**NOTE: Some of the IS courses have recently been updated, and prerequisites require that you have the most updated course certificate.
