2026 Construction: Hwy 210/I-94 interchange improvements
Crews paved the crossing at Western Avenue (which will reopen today), elsewhere they're getting ready for some additional traffic switches coming next week:
On the east end of the project: with the eastbound lane of the eastern leg of the easterly roundabout (say that five times fast!), traffic heading east will begin using the new lane next week. Crews will start working on the final connection to the ramps.
At Redwood Lane: the south and west legs of the Redwood Lane roundabout are wrapped up and curing. Next week, westbound traffic traveling west of Redwood Lane will move to the new alignment! Eastbound drivers will remain on the old alignment and continue to use the temporary lane to enter the roundabout.
These adjustments to traffic are necessary to help maintain progress on remaining work. Please travel with care and caution, and never enter an area blocked by barriers, cones or barrels. It takes time to get used to new traffic patterns - patience with your fellow drivers are appreciated.
In addition, the demolition of the old bridge has been pushed to the week of Oct. 26. Crews will finish the final tie-ins to the southside ramps first, which are on the schedule for next week, too.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent.
New eastbound lane at the easterly roundabout is done and curing! Next week, traffic heading east into Fergus Falls will no longer use the temporary lane and will move to the new lane.
When westbound traffic switches to the new alignment next week, crews will finish constructing the eastbound lane on the west end of the project.
The west leg of the Redwood Lane roundabout is done and curing. Westbound traffic only will switch to the new alignment next week.
South leg of the Redwood Lane roundabout is poured
Important reminders
Slow down and travel through the work zone with care and caution. While traffic is using the new alignment, there is still road work underway. Be alert for changing conditions, equipment and workers.
Never enter an area blocked by barricades, barrels or cones. Currently all traffic is running on paved surfaces, so please do not enter any gravel areas. Watch for construction equipment or trucks who may be entering or exiting the work areas at these barricaded locations. Do not follow them.
Please remember to keep right when entering the roundabouts. When navigating a roundabout:
- Yield to vehicles already in the roundabout. Merge into the traffic flow when it is safe.
- Continue through the roundabout until you reach your exit. Do not stop or pass in a roundabout.
- Exit the roundabout immediately if an emergency vehicle approaches and then pull over. Do not stop in the roundabout.
- Give large trucks extra space in a roundabout. Large trucks will use the truck apron on the center island if needed. At the Redwood Lane roundabout, they will use the gravel center as the temporary truck apron to navigate around the curve.

Current traffic impacts
Highway 210 remains open for east/west travelers. Please travel with care through the work zone.
The westbound I-94 on-ramp and eastbound I-94 off-ramp are now open, but the southside interchange ramps are closed to all travelers. Continue to use the detour on County Road 1/Tower Road (Exit 55).
Reduced speeds and head-to-head traffic on I-94 near the interchange.
