2026 Construction: Hwy 210/I-94 interchange improvements
|
Traffic was switched to the new alignment on Highway 210 last weekend, and we appreciate your patience this week as everyone is getting used to the changes.
These adjustments were necessary for the next phase of construction so that progress can continue while without closing the road.
Thank you for understanding!

Important reminders
Slow down and travel through the work zone with care and caution. While traffic is using the new alignment, there is still road work underway. Be alert for changing conditions, equipment and workers.
Never enter an area blocked by barricades, barrels or cones. Currently all traffic is running on paved surfaces, so please do not enter any gravel areas. Watch for construction equipment or trucks who may be entering or exiting the work areas at these barricaded locations. Do not follow them.
And please remember to keep right when entering the roundabouts. When navigating a roundabout:
- Yield to vehicles already in the roundabout. Merge into the traffic flow when it is safe.
- Continue through the roundabout until you reach your exit. Do not stop or pass in a roundabout.
- Exit the roundabout immediately if an emergency vehicle approaches and then pull over. Do not stop in the roundabout.
- Give large trucks extra space in a roundabout. Large trucks will use the truck apron on the center island if needed. At the Redwood Lane roundabout, they will use the gravel center as the temporary truck apron to navigate around the curve.
The Redwood Lane roundabout is only half-complete, so traffic is using temporary lanes to continue east/west on Highway 210. Always keep right when entering a roundabout and continue around the circle until your exit.
Construction progress
This week, crews started on the pipe installation near Redwood Lane, and will continue working east. We anticipate they will be ready to install the pipe across the southern Western Avenue intersection in early October. At that time, the south intersection of Western Avenue will be closed temporarily and detoured for a few days. More info to come as the exact schedule becomes known!
Crews are also getting the Redwood Lane and easterly roundabouts ready for concrete crews to return on Oct. 1, weather permitting, to complete the remaining legs of both roundabouts.
Bridge crews are currently painting the bridge, and finishing up work underneath the bridge too. The westbound I-94 on-ramp is open, so drivers can now get onto westbound I-94 from Highway 210! That is the only ramp open to traffic at this time. The other northside ramp (eastbound I-94 off-ramp) will be the next to open, likely later next week. Continue to use the detour on County Road 1/Tower Road.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent.
Pipe crews begin installations near Redwood Lane. The underground work must be completed before the south leg of the roundabout can be constructed.
Cars traveling on eastbound Highway 210 exit the easterly roundabout using the temporary eastbound lane to continue into Fergus Falls.
As the new bridge is painted, the new "Fergus Falls" embellishments are looking great!
