2026 Construction: Hwy 210/I-94 interchange improvements
Between the rainy days this week, crews have been preparing for the upcoming traffic change on Highway 210. Paving crews started to build the temporary lanes at Redwood Lane as well as at the eastern roundabout yesterday, and striping will be taking place too. At this time, it's looking like east/west traffic will move to the new Highway 210 alignment and bridge possibly later today, Friday, Sept. 18 or tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 19. More rain in the forecast and overall progress on the prep work will impact the exact timing. We appreciate your patience and understanding as the switch's date remains flexible.
We've updated our map of Highway 210/Redwood Lane intersection below to show how drivers will navigate from one area to the other when the change occurs. The intersection will function as a roundabout, but there will be temporary lanes constructed to connect the new alignment with the old alignment so crews can complete the west and south legs of the roundabout. Please travel with caution through the intersection and the entire work area.
The north ramps (eastbound I-94 off-ramp and westbound I-94 on-ramp) will be reopening at a later date next week. There are still a few things to wrap on the ramps before they're ready for traffic. Continue to use the detour on County Road 1/Tower Road.
In addition to what's happening above, I-94 traffic is now running head-to-head to allow crews to finish up work underneath the bridge.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent.
As the west and south legs of the roundabout are constructed, traffic will use temporary lanes to navigate around the roundabout to continue east/west or access businesses.
When traffic switches to the new bridge and alignment, and when the north ramps reopen, we want to remind motorists that the roadway is still an active work zone. There will be workers still finishing up work on the bridge, and other activities will be happening alongside the new alignment to get the final connections completed. Slow down in the work zone, and travel with care and caution. Please practice patience with your fellow drivers, as everyone is getting used to the new traffic patterns.
Crews paved the temporary lanes that connect the new and old alignment for the upcoming traffic switch. The temporary lanes will be used to allow crews to finish the south and west legs of the Redwood Lane roundabout. Large trucks will utilize the gravel center as a truck apron.
