Highway 197 Bemidji- August 31
Traffic shifts to the new Hwy 197 lanes and roundabout today. Expect delays, changing traffic control and a flashing red signal at Hwy 71.
Crews are shifting traffic onto the new Highway 197 concrete lanes and through the new roundabout today.
There are a lot of moving parts involved in making that switch. Crews need to relocate temporary signals and traffic control while still keeping traffic moving through the work zone. That makes the transition more challenging and means motorists should plan for delays and allow extra time if traveling through the area today.
Please:
- Slow down and pay attention
- Watch for changing lanes, signs and traffic control
- Expect delays throughout the day
- Treat the signal at Highway 197 and Highway 71 as a stop sign while it is flashing red
And over the next few days, please continue to take it slow and stay alert. Traffic patterns will be different, and the new configuration may take a little time for everyone to get used to.
