Highway 71 Turtle River to Tenstrike update: August 14

What's happening now?

Crews are currently blading and compacting from the south end of the project near Beltrami CR 22 to the north Hillcrest intersection. Excavation operations as well as subbase work is taking place from the Knappen Hill Road intersection to Tenstrike.

What's next?

Stage 2 of the project will begin on August 17, weather permitting. This stage includes reconstructing Highway 71 from Beltrami County Road (CR) 23 north to Beltrami CR 22. Stage 2 is expected to be complete by late August.

Stage 3 of the project will follow Stage 2. Stage 3 includes intersection improvements at Beltrami CR 23. Once the road is up to grade, paving will begin. The project is expected to be complete in early October, weather permitting.

As a reminder, during these operations, residents and other local traffic should continue to watch for workers, slow-moving equipment and obey traffic control.

Motorists just passing through should utilize the detour.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent.
