We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding this week while the thru-traffic detour was adjusted temporarily for Stevens County's resurfacing project on County Road 10. That work will wrap up the morning of Friday, Aug. 7, and all of Highway 28 will close again to thru-traffic from Morris to Starbuck.
If you do not have a destination along Highway 28, please stick to the thru-traffic detour route. The road must remain closed to allow crews to finish the work in Cyrus, and between Cyrus and Starbuck. Thank you for your understanding!
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent.

Construction progress
Between Cyrus and Starbuck, crews continue shouldering, turf establishment and other cleanup, and rumble strips will be next. Local traffic should continue to drive with caution in this section and always obey traffic control.
Concrete crews continue to install sidewalks in Phase 1 in Cyrus, with Phase 2 concrete work to follow.

Other local traffic safety reminders:
- This is an active work zone, even in areas where workers aren't present. Please slow down, and travel with extreme caution and care.
- Always obey flaggers and follow pilot car
- Be alert for changing conditions, such as uneven, rough and/or gravel surfaces
- Watch for workers, trucks hauling, and slow-moving heavy equipment
The highway is closed to thru-traffic. If you don't have a destination along the roadway, please follow the signed detour route. For access to Cyrus, follow the detour and from County Road 18 use County Road 3 to enter from the south.
