Stevens County will begin resurfacing County Road 10 on Monday, Aug. 3, weather permitting. For approximately 4-5 days, the thru-traffic detour will be adjusted to accommodate this work. Thru-traffic will use Highway 28 between Morris and Cyrus and County Road 3 (to/from Cyrus) as the connection to our existing detour on County Road 18 and Highway 29. The roadway in Cyrus will be gravel, so please travel with care and caution.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: All of Highway 28 will close again to thru-traffic after the County Road 10 paving is done. While the section between Morris and Cyrus is complete, traffic must remain detoured so we can finish our work in Cyrus and between Cyrus and Starbuck.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work in coordination with the county and contractors. All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent.

Construction progress
Paving is wrapping up on Highway 28 between Cyrus and Starbuck. Shouldering is next and will be followed by final striping. Local traffic, please continue to obey flaggers and follow pilot cars.
We have one lift (layer) of pavement on Phase 1 in Cyrus, and we expect to see concrete crews return next week to start on sidewalks in this section. The utility crews are done in Phase 2, and now the roadway is being put back together to get ready for next week's traffic change.
A reminder that during the short-term thru-traffic detour adjustment, Highway 28 will remain closed east of Dahl Street/County Road 3 in Cyrus to Starbuck.
 Other local traffic safety reminders:
- This is an active work zone, even in areas where workers aren't present. Please slow down, and travel with extreme caution and care.
- Always obey flaggers and follow pilot car
- Be alert for changing conditions, such as uneven, rough and/or gravel surfaces
- Watch for workers, trucks hauling, and slow-moving heavy equipment
The highway is closed to thru-traffic. If you don't have a destination along the roadway, please follow the signed detour route. For access to Cyrus, follow the detour and from County Road 18 use County Road 3 to enter from the south.
