Paving continues on Highway 28 between Cyrus and Starbuck. They expect to wrap up paving by mid-next week, and then crews will begin shouldering and striping in this section. Local traffic, please obey flaggers and follow pilot cars.
Paving crews will also begin paving in Phase 1 in Cyrus next week, too. Curb and gutters are done in Phase 1, and concrete crews will return in early August to pour sidewalks. Phase 2 underground work is nearing completion and expected to be done by the end of next week!
In Cyrus, please continue to enter Cyrus from the south on County Road 3 and follow the detour signs on Third Street to Nelson Street to cross Highway 28.
 Temporary thru-traffic detour adjustment planned the week of Aug. 3 for county road paving
Stevens County will begin a project to resurface County Road 10 in the upcoming weeks. To accommodate this work - which impacts the detour route for our project - the thru-traffic detour will be adjusted. During the week of Aug. 3, weather permitting, thru-traffic will use Highway 28 between Morris and Cyrus, County Road 3 (to/from Cyrus) and County Road 18. The portion of the detour in Cyrus will be gravel, so please travel with care and caution.
All of Highway 28 will close again to thru-traffic after the County Road 10 work is done. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work in coordination with the county and contractors.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent.

Other local traffic safety reminders:
- This is an active work zone, even in areas where workers aren't present. Please slow down, and travel with extreme caution and care.
- Always obey flaggers and follow pilot car
- Be alert for changing conditions, such as uneven, rough and/or gravel surfaces
- Watch for workers, trucks hauling, and slow-moving heavy equipment
The highway is closed to thru-traffic. If you don't have a destination along the roadway, please follow the signed detour route. For access to Cyrus, follow the detour and from County Road 18 use County Road 3 to enter from the south.
