D3 - Hwy 25 Buffalo to Monticello: 2026 construction
A temporary traffic signal will be installed by mid‑week at the intersection of Wright Co. Rd. 37 and Wright Co. Rd. 117 (Edmonson Ave. NE). This is part of the Hwy 25 detour, and the signal will help traffic move more safely and smoothly through the busy intersection.
Hwy 25 remains closed to through‑traffic between Buffalo and Monticello. Drivers should continue to follow the detour (map above) using Hwy 55, Wright Co. Rd. 12, Co. Rd. 37, Co. Rd. 117 (Edmonson Ave. NE) and School Blvd.

The closed work zone will be maintained and open for those who live, work or visit. However, hard closures will be needed at times to reconstruct entrances and construct roundabouts.
Catlin St./Commerce Cir.
On Tue, July 14, crews began work on the legs connecting to/from the future roundabout at Hwy 25 and Catlin St./Commerce Cir. in Buffalo.

Work updates
Crews are finishing up on driveway storm drainage culverts and continuing work on roundabouts, access connections and pedestrian sidewalk/trails.

 Crews pave the Hwy 25 and Commerce Cir./Catlin St. roundabout in Buffalo.
On Mon, July 27, crews will begin to rebuild and recycle segments of road surface between Co. Rd. 37 and Co. Rd. 106 using a process called Stabilized Full Depth Reclamation (SFDR).
The crews' goal is to reopen Hwy 25 north of Co. Rd. 37 by late August. Hwy 25 will remain closed and detoured south of Co. Rd. 37 until late October. Weather and contractor schedule permitting.

How it works

Break it down: Machines grind up the old asphalt and some of the gravel underneath.

Strengthen it: Special materials like cement or asphalt emulsion are mixed in to make the recycled base stronger.

Pack it tight: The new mix is compacted to form a solid, durable foundation for the road.

Resurface: A new layer of asphalt is paved over the surface.
Benefits
This process saves money, protects the environment by reducing waste and truck traffic, and creates stronger, more durable roads by reusing the existing surface.
Impacts
This machinery is wider than one driving lane. Those who need access to/from Hwy 25 should be prepared for delays and alternate one-way traffic with flaggers and a pilot car. Be prepared to stop and wait. Expect lane shifts, gravel surfaces and heavy equipment.
When all lanes reopen in fall 2026, the $11.4 million project will improve motorist and pedestrian safety, drainage and ride quality along seven miles of Hwy 25 between Buffalo and Monticello.
