D1 - Hwy 61 & London Road: 2026-2027 construction
Current and upcoming work
- Starting July 16, 60th Ave E uphill from London Road will close to through traffic for approximately two weeks to install storm sewer and new pipes.
- Work at 26th Ave E roundabout continues with removals of pavement and old utilities. New storm sewer and new utility connections are being installed.
- From 41st Ave E to 60th Ave E:

Removal of avenue quadrants, curb and gutter, sidewalk

Renovation of storm sewer structure

Install of new storm sewer structures and pipe

Install of new sidewalk and pedestrian facilities
- Driveway removals are currently underway. Residents will be notified by flyer one week in advance and the contractor will confirm on the day of at the residence before work starts.
Traffic control
- 60th Ave E just uphill from London Road will close to through traffic starting July 16 for approximately two weeks.

North of 40th Ave E, London Road is only open to northbound traffic. Southbound traffic is detoured on to Superior St to 40th Ave E.
- MnDOT has been made aware that some southbound drivers are entering the work zone or using the northbound lane as a shortcut to access nearby residences. This is an unsafe practice, and law enforcement has been notified.

The southbound truck detour has traffic continue on Superior St to 21st Ave E.

There is a hard closure of London Road just past the business accesses before 26th Ave E when heading north/east. There is also a hard closure of 26th Ave E just up the hill from London Road.

All north/east I-35 traffic is on a bypass to continue on London Road. There is no access to 26th Ave E from I-35 or London Road.
- Traffic impacts are expected through the fall.
