Metro - East 7th Street & Arcade Street in St. Paul: 2025-2026 construction
Thank you for your patience with the sidewalk and road improvements along East 7th St. and Arcade St. in St. Paul. After the holiday weekend, we’ll have construction zone changes to advance work in the area.
Beginning 7 a.m. Mon, July 6, construction activities will extend on East 7th St. between Mounds Blvd. and I-94.
Crews will also be shifting construction activity to the north half of East 7th St. between Mounds Blvd. and Minnehaha Ave.
Single lane traffic will remain open in both directions on East 7th St. between I-94 and Minnehaha Ave.
Holiday construction schedule
No construction activities will take place from Fri, July 3 through Sun, July 5.
We appreciate your patience while we make these improvements. Plan ahead by checking 511, and give yourself additional time to reach your destination.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.
Please drive with care in work zones:
- Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate with care and caution.
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
- Obey posted speed limits. The fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
- Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

Construction Zones
- Avoid entering any construction zones marked by barriers or signage.
Pedestrian and driver safety
- Please do not remove or tamper with construction signage or barriers. Construction safety equipment and signage is essential to direct pedestrian traffic and promote safety around the work zone.
- Refrain from crossing the project area at unmarked crossings and parking in restricted areas.
In March 2025, we began the two-year reconstruction project along East 7th St. and Arcade St. between I-94 in St. Paul and Roselawn Ave. in Maplewood. When complete, the new road will improve traffic flow, decrease traffic delays and improve safety on the road. Construction is anticipated to be complete in fall 2026.
