Crews have finished the last centerline culvert replacement west of Starbuck, and starting Monday, June 29, weather permitting, crews will begin milling the roadway between Starbuck and Cyrus. Reclaiming will follow beginning July 1, and paving is expected to start mid-July. Residents/other local traffic will encounter flaggers and pilot car. Plan ahead for delays.
On the west side of the project, paving is about complete, as crews pave the final lift (layer) of pavement between Morris and Cyrus. They'll begin shouldering between Morris and Cyrus next week.
In Cyrus, crews are working on the storm sewer replacements in Phase 2, while service hookups and reconstruction work continues in Phase 1. Concrete crews are now expected to arrive after the Fourth of July holiday, and will be in-town starting July 6, weather permitting. They'll get to work on curb and gutter in Phase 1.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent.
Local traffic/residents should continue to access Cyrus from County Road 3, turn left on Third Street and use Chippewa Street to cross Highway 28.
Support your local businesses! During the in-town work, if you're trying to access a business within the work areas, check in with them on the best way to get there. You may have to park on a side street and walk up, or use a back door. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
 Other local traffic safety reminders:
- This is an active work zone, even in areas where workers aren't present. Please slow down, and travel with extreme caution and care.
- Always obey flaggers and follow pilot car
- Be alert for changing conditions, such as uneven, rough and/or gravel surfaces
- Watch for workers, trucks hauling, and slow-moving heavy equipment
The highway is closed to thru-traffic. If you don't have a destination along the roadway, please follow the signed detour route. For access to Cyrus, follow the detour and from County Road 18 use County Road 3 to enter from the south.
