Highway 71 Turtle River to Tenstrike update: June 17
We have had some rainy days, however the work continues on Highway 71 from Turtle River to Tenstrike. Crews have been removing pavement in driving lanes from Turtle River Lake Road to south junction of Hillcrest Dr.
Crews are currently working on pavement removal in the driving lanes from just north of the south junction of Hillcrest Dr. to Tenstrike. The surface will be a gravel base with grading operations starting the middle of next week near Turtle River Lake Road, weather permitting. Local traffic can expect temporary delays.
Motorists will notice additional law enforcement near the project. Be sure to pay attention, slow down and use caution on the detour route. At times there is slow moving traffic such as farm equipment on the detour. Drive with caution.
Highway 71 is currently closed from Beltrami County roads 23 to 29 during construction. Work is expected to be complete by October, weather permitting. Access to residences and businesses along Highway 71 will be maintained, but residents and other local traffic should expect some restrictions in the areas where crews are working. Please slow down, and watch for workers, trucks and heavy equipment when traveling through the work zone. If you don’t have a destination on Highway 71, please use the detour.
