A rainy start to the week, but crews were able to get started in Phase 2 in Cyrus, and the intersection of Highway 28 and County Road 3 is closed. The in-town detour has changed to better accommodate the remaining work in Phase 1: local traffic/residents should still enter Cyrus from County Road 3, but instead of turning right on Third Street, please turn left and use Chippewa Street to cross Highway 28.
As a reminder, Phase 2 work is taking place concurrently with the Phase 1 remaining work. This change to the phasing plan helps to keep the utility crews on-site to continue with the current pace of progress on the underground utility work.
Please support your local businesses! During the in-town work, if you're trying to access a business within the work areas, check in with them on the best way to get there. You may have to park on a side street and walk up, or use a back door. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
On the east side of the project, crews are finishing up the centerline culvert replacement just west of Starbuck. This section remains a hard closure between 300th Avenue and County Road 81/320th Avenue. When crews finish up this replacement, they plan to jump back to Cyrus to help with reconstructing the roadway. Then, they will return at a later time to do the final centerline culvert replacement within this same area.
On the west side of the project, milling is complete from Cyrus toward Morris, and reclaiming continues. Weather permitting, once all milling and reclaiming are complete, early next week, crews will start paving from Morris toward Cyrus. Local traffic should expect to encounter flaggers and pilot cars. Please be prepared to stop and expect minor delays.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent.
The highway is closed to thru-traffic. If you don't have a destination along the roadway, please follow the signed detour route. For access to Cyrus, follow the detour and from County Road 18 use County Road 3 to enter from the south.
