Lots of underground work has been taking place on Highway 28 from Morris to Starbuck. Crews continue the utility replacements in the city of Cyrus in Phase 1, and also completed the first centerline culvert replacement west of Cyrus. All work will take a pause this weekend for the Memorial Day weekend, resuming on Tuesday, May 26.
The highway is closed to thru-traffic. If you don't have a destination along the roadway, please follow the signed detour route. For access to Cyrus, follow the detour and from County Road 18 use County Road 3 to enter from the south.

Phase 1 underground replacements in Cyrus will continue for the next few weeks. Crews completed the centerline culvert replacement between County Road 3/430th Avenue and County Road 1/Lake Avenue, and we appreciate your patience while the roadway was impassable at this location. Crews continue to install culvert aprons and linings, and in the upcoming weeks, they'll start on the remaining two centerline culvert replacements near Starbuck.
Over the holiday weekend, a reminder that the road remains closed, and the detour and work zones will remain in place. For local traffic, if you live east of Cyrus, you will need to find an alternate route if you're trying to get to town. You cannot enter Cyrus from the east. The best way to access Cyrus is to follow the detour and use County Road 3 to enter/exit from the south.
Please support your local businesses! During the in-town work, if you're trying to access a business within the work area, check in with them on the best way to get there. You may have to park on a side street and walk up, or use a back door. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
In early June, crews will get started with milling on Highway 28 near Cyrus, working west toward Morris. More information to come as that schedule is confirmed.
