D1 - Hwy 61 & London Road: 2026-2027 construction
Current and Upcoming Work
MnDOT appreciates your patience with construction underway. There are a lot of changes occurring with traffic shifts and detour implementation, and we are trying to make things as smooth as possible. Our traffic engineers are closely monitoring conditions and will make changes as needed.
Schedule for May 18 - 22
- Removing the center median island at 26th Ave E
- Working on sewer main relocate and water main relocate at 40th Ave E
- Working on removals and placement of new sidewalk at various locations north of 40th Ave E
- Preparing areas for sod along the areas with new sidewalk installed
- Paving of the sewer main relocate at 40th Ave E will take place at the end of this week
- Paving of the center median island at 26th Ave E for future traffic control stages will take place at the end of this week
Schedule for May 25 - 29

Monday is Memorial Day and there will be no construction operations

There will be continued work on turf establishment with Sod placement along the areas with new sidewalk

The 2 homes at 3917 and 3921 London Road will be removed. These homes are adjacent to where the sewer and water relocation was at 40th Ave E

Striping and traffic control efforts will be present preparing for the next stage of the project
Traffic concerns
- Law enforcement is being asked to increase patrols near 36th Ave E and a speed reading sign is going to be added
- During peak hours, there has been increased left turn movements on to 36th Ave E causing back ups. No additional traffic control is going to be installed at this time. Project traffic control is anticipated to be removed the first week of June in advance of Grandma's Marathon before returning on June 22 with southbound traffic being able to access 40th Ave E.
