Construction starts next week on Highway 28 from Morris to Starbuck. The highway will close to thru-traffic on Monday, May 11, until October. If you don't have a destination along the roadway, please follow the signed detour route. For access to Cyrus, follow the detour and from County Road 18 use County Road 3 to enter from the south.
 Construction in Cyrus
When crews get started on Monday, work will begin in the city of Cyrus, starting with Phase 1 between Dahl Street and Stromen Street. Removals will start, followed by underground utility replacements.
Please continue to support your local businesses: During the in-town work, if you're trying to access a business within the work area, check in with them on the best way to get there. You may have to park on a side street and walk up, or use a back door. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding while this work is underway.
 Culvert replacements along Highway 28
There are driveway and entrance culverts and three centerline culverts that will be replaced on Highway 28. There are two centerline culverts between Cyrus and Starbuck, and another west of Cyrus. During the centerline culvert replacements, the roadway will be impassable in those locations. Each centerline pipe will take about 3-7 days to replace, so if you live on the roadway, you will have to find a short-term alternate route around those sites.
Culvert work will begin when the Phase 1 removals are done in Cyrus. The pipe crews plan to start on the west end of the project near Morris, working east.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent.
This year, MnDOT will resurface and replace culverts on Highway 28 between Highway 59 near Morris and John Street in Starbuck, and reconstruct Highway 28 in Cyrus. For more information, please visit the project website.
