D1 - Hwy 61 & London Road: 2026-2027 construction
Current and Upcoming Work
MnDOT appreciates your patience with construction underway. There are a lot of changes occurring with traffic shifts and detour implementation, and we are trying to make things as smooth as possible. Our traffic engineers are closely monitoring Superior Street and over the next week will consider possible changes to traffic control and signage.
Schedule look ahead for May 6th – May 9th
The contractor will be working on the following items:
- At 40th Ave E for utility relocations of a sanitary main
- At 26th Ave E for the bypass construction for the next stage of traffic control
- There will be paving activities on Thursday and Friday
- Contractor will be paving the 26th Ave E bypass from NB I-35
- Contractor will be paving at 40th Ave E for the utility relocation and for a temp widening of the EB lane of London Road
- Ongoing sidewalk removal and replacement will be happening from 42nd Ave E to 60th Ave E in the WB lane of London Road
Schedule look ahead for May 11th – May 15th
The contractor will be working on the following items:
- A new traffic stage will be going into effect on May 11th – May 13th
- Once the new traffic stage is in place the contractor will be working on
- Utility relocations in the WB lane of London Road at 40th Ave E
- Removal of the median at 26th Ave E
- Following the median removal, there will be grading and prep work for paving the following week
- Removal of overhead signs in the WB lane of London Road just prior to 26th Ave E
- Ongoing sidewalk removal and replacement will be happening from 42nd Ave E to 60th Ave E in the WB lane of London Road
Traffic concerns
- There has been concerns brought to MnDOT and the contractor at the 26th Ave E and London Road intersection and adjustments will be made
- Starting May 11th, there will be a new traffic control configuration being installed and should be in place by May 13th.
