Crews construct a crossover on I-94, which will help move traffic under the bridge at various times throughout construction
Work started this week at the west junction of Highway 210 and I-94. Crews are preparing the roadway for the traffic switches that start May 4, building crossovers and a bypass that will be used to move traffic through the work zone during construction.
Traffic changes coming May 4
Next week is a big one! Traffic will switch off of the north bridge on Highway 210, and east/west travelers will transition to head-to-head on the south bridge for the duration of construction. At that time, the interchange ramps will also close, and I-94 traffic to/from Highway 210 will be detoured to County Road 1/Tower Road. Throughout construction, Highway 210 will remain open to east/west travelers.
Then, starting Monday evening, crews will begin demolition of the north bridge. From 8:30 p.m. until 7 a.m., starting May 4 for up to three nights, I-94 will close near the interchange. I-94 traffic will be routed temporarily around the work area on the interchange ramps during the night work, but the ramps will close again during the daytime hours.
After the bridge demolition is complete, the ramps will close 24/7 through October, and motorists traveling to/from Highway 210 should follow the detour on County Road 1/Tower Road.
