Hwy 10 roadwork ramps up, detour begins Mon, May 4

Hwy 10 will close between Wadena Co. Rd. 4 and Harry Rich Dr. for about five weeks so crews can excavate, replace poor soils and install a large box culvert at Union Creek. A signed detour (above map) will take you along Co. Rd. 4 and Harry Rich Dr.

The box culverts for Union Creek and Whiskey Creek will be roughly twice the size as the culvert crews are installing here.

Expect lanes to shift west of Hwy 71

Also the week of May 4, both directions of Hwy 10 traffic will be shifted onto the westbound side while crews construct the new eastbound side.

Pay attention and be prepared for changes—lane shifts, no shoulders, head-to-head traffic and multiple crews at work.

Wadena is open Local access will be open and maintained at all times for those who live, work and visit areas within the work zones. However, temporary hard closures will be needed at times as crews work beneath the roadway. Enter and exit as close to your destination as possible, follow posted signs and stay out of barricaded areas. Alternate entrances or side streets may be required.

More about this project

When complete in August 2027, travelers will enjoy a smoother, stronger and expanded four-lane highway. Wadena will be safer and easier to get around with updated underground drainage and city services.
