Week 24 progress
Concrete crews continue to finish up sidewalk pours this week, and are preparing to finish and replace the tree grates downtown with the new cast iron grates. The tree planting will take place in 2026.
Crews also prep the sites in Stage 2C and Stages 3A-B for paving, and will start on the miscellaneous items and cleanup work.
Paving was originally on the schedule to start this week, but that had to be adjusted due to the paving subcontractor's schedule and crew availability. We are waiting for an updated plan from the subcontractor, hoping there will be a paving crew on-site next week.
Paving is still expected to begin on Highway 108 west, in Stages 3A-B. Then crews will move to Highway 59, County Road 9 and Pete Lane. They have to do the final lift (layer) of pavement in all of Stage 2C on Highway 59, from Fifth Avenue NE to north of County Road 9, so motorists should expect additional lane closures and flagging operations while that work takes place.
They'll return to Highway 108 west to finish paving the final lift in Stage 3A-B. They will also be milling and paving in Stage 3C, west of Third Street NW heading out of town. Flaggers will direct traffic.
Reminder: at this time, you still can not access County Road 9 directly from Highway 59. The entrance to/from County Road 9 is closed to all traffic while the realignment work is underway. Drivers should use the detour on Highway 34 to enter from the north, or find an alternate route to and from County Road 9. Business access is maintained for the businesses near/at the intersection, but no thru-traffic is permitted.

While the Hwy 59/CR 9 intersection is closed, consider using the MnDOT detour to access CR 9 or find an alternate route
There are several ways you can find information or get your questions answered:
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones where workers are present, and never enter an area that's blocked by barriers or cones.
