D3 - Hwy 24 in Clearwater: 2026-2027 construction
Thanks to those who attended the public open house on Mon, Sept. 29, to learn about the upcoming construction on Hwy 24 in 2026. If you missed it, no worries—we've got you covered!
Check out the project webpage to view meeting materials and learn about tentative work staging by year, traffic impacts and more. We expect to host another meeting prior to construction next spring. We'll share more when those details are available.
This project is in partnership with the City of Clearwater and Wright County and will improve safety, traffic flow and access through Clearwater. Final design work will continue through 2025, with construction expected to begin in summer 2026 and wrap up by late fall 2027.
 MnDOT will reconstruct and improve the Hwy 24 interchange at I-94 in Clearwater, includes roundabouts and a new bridge in 2026-2027.
Improvements include:
- Build a new Hwy 24 bridge over I-94, southeast of the current bridge
- Reconstruct Hwy 24 from Wright Co. Rd. 145 (179th St.) to Smith St.
- Improve access and traffic flow with:
- Two roundabouts at the I-94 westbound and eastbound ramps
- A teardrop-style roundabout at Hwy 24 and Wright Co. Rd. 145
- New road approaches at Ash St. and Nelson Dr.
- Extend the multi-use trail and sidewalks between Co. Rd. 145 and Co. Rd. 75
- Connect with Wright County’s roundabout project at Hwy 24 and Co. Rd. 7
