Metro - I-94 and I-394 in Minneapolis: 2025-2026 construction
Construction continues on the I-394 bridge maintenance project between Minneapolis and Golden Valley. Drivers should be aware of several ramp closures to westbound I-394.
Tomorrow, Sept. 27, the following downtown entrance ramps to westbound I-394 will be closed from 6 a.m. to noon:
- North 3rd Ave./Washington Ave.
- ABC Parking Ramps
- Twins Way
- Linden Ave.
- Dunwoody Blvd.
Drivers can still access westbound I-394 from I-94.
Anticipate ongoing off-peak, evenings, and weekend lane and ramp closures as construction continues. Follow construction signage.
Plan ahead by checking 511, and give yourself additional time to reach your destination.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.
Please drive with care in work zones:
- Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate with care and caution.
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
- Obey posted speed limits. The fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
- Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

We are repairing bridges and ramps along I-94 and I-394 between downtown Minneapolis and Hwy 100. The project includes realigning the I-394 to Dunwoody Blvd. ramp, replacing the deck for the Penn Ave. bridge that crosses over I-394, and other improvements along I-394 and I-94.
During this time, the E-ZPass lanes will be closed between downtown Minneapolis and Hwy 100.
Then in spring through fall 2026, crews will reduce I-394 to two lanes in both directions between downtown Minneapolis and Hwy 100. The E-ZPass lanes will be open to all traffic. Crews will also close the Penn Ave. bridge during this time.
When work is finished in fall 2026, these bridges and ramps along I-394 and I-94 will have a smoother and safer riding surface.
