Week 19 progress
Paving crews returned to town to put the first lift (layer) of pavement down on Highway 108 east! There's still at least a week of sidewalk and other concrete work left to do in Stages 4A-C on Highway 108 east, so the final lift of pavement won't go on until after they finish up all the concrete work on that side of the project—we don't want the equipment and trucks to damage the new road!
Over on Highway 59 in Stage 2C, crews have swapped traffic and have moved their operations north to begin on the road realignment at County Road 9. They're starting on the east side of the road, with the automated signal directing traffic one-way at a time through the work zone.
You can not access County Road 9 directly from Highway 59. The entrance to/from County Road 9 is now closed to all traffic while the realignment work is underway. Drivers should use the official detour on Highway 34 to enter from the north, or find an alternate route to and from County Road 9. Business access is maintained for the businesses near/at the intersection, but no thru-traffic is permitted. You will be turned around.
On Highway 108 west, in Stages 3A-B, utility replacements continue west up to 3rd Street NW. The closure of the 3rd Street NW intersection (the current in-town detour route for Stages 3A and 3B) is scheduled to start on Monday, Sept. 22, weather permitting. Please plan ahead and consider your alternate route to/from town. They expect the work to take approximately a week to complete and then they'll reopen the intersection.
Crews continue underground utility replacements in Stage 3A-B on Highway 108 west
Paving crews are on Highway 108 east for the first lift of pavement. Concrete crews will return to finish up before the final lift is paved
With paving done on Highway 59, crews shift the operations north to begin on the CR 9 realigment
When the Hwy 59/CR 9 intersection closes, consider using the MnDOT detour to access CR 9 or find an alternate route
There are several ways you can find information or get your questions answered:
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones where workers are present, and never enter an area that's blocked by barriers or cones.
