Metro - East 7th Street & Arcade Street in St. Paul: 2025-2026 construction
Construction continues along Arcade St. and next year construction will start on East 7th St. The project team is creating the landscaping designs for the area, which will be installed after construction is completed. We are looking for community input on the landscaping design and invite you to join us at three upcoming events to provide your feedback. We'd like to hear your ideas on plant species, bench placement, sidewalk patterns, and other design elements that will make East 7th St. and Arcade St. welcoming for everyone. The completed landscaping designs will be made available on the project website once they're finalized, so you can see how your input helped shape the final plan.
We appreciate your patience while we make these improvements. Plan ahead by checking 511, and give yourself additional time to reach your destination.
Please drive with care in work zones:
- Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate with care and caution.
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
- Obey posted speed limits. The fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
- Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

In March 2025, we began the two-year reconstruction project along East 7th St. and Arcade St. between I-94 in St. Paul and Roselawn Ave. in Maplewood. When complete, the new roadway will improve traffic flow, decrease traffic delays and improve safety on the road. Construction is anticipated to be complete in fall 2026.
