Metro - East 7th Street & Arcade Street in St. Paul: 2025-2026 construction
The project team is hosting construction office hours on Thu, Sept. 18. The meeting will be an opportunity to meet with project staff, ask questions, and share feedback. There will also be information about the project’s landscaping design, and an opportunity to review and provide comments. Light refreshments will be served.

Reminder: Business access changes at Seeger Square
Starting Tue, Sept. 2, after the holiday weekend, expect changes to business access between York Ave. and Neid Ln. Access to the businesses at Seeger Square (883-895 Arcade St.), on the west side of Arcade St., will be restricted via York Ave.
Track out mats
If you've noticed yellow egg-crate mats at construction site entrances, they are called track out mats. These specialized mats serve an important environmental purpose: they help remove mud, sediment, and debris from vehicle tires as construction trucks and equipment enter and exit work sites. By cleaning tires before vehicles reach public roads, track out mats prevent construction materials from being tracked onto streets and potentially washing into storm drains, which could harm local waterways.
While you should never enter active construction zones without permission, you may occasionally need to drive over these mats when they're placed across roadways. These mats are specifically designed to support vehicle traffic and are safe to drive over at slower speeds.
Reminder: Parking restrictions in reopened areas
Construction crews are nearing completion of work in several areas along the project area. As sections of Arcade St. reopen to local access, please note that long-term parking remains prohibited. While short-term parking is available for customers visiting businesses, construction crews may still require access to these areas. Vehicles parked for extended periods in construction zones are subject to towing. Please remember that these areas remain active construction zones.

Please drive with care in work zones:
- Slow down when approaching every work zone, then navigate with care and caution.
- Stay alert; work zones constantly change.
- Watch for workers and slow-moving equipment.
- Obey posted speed limits. The fine for a violation in a work zone is $300.
- Minimize distractions behind the wheel.
- Be patient; expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

In March 2025, we began the two-year reconstruction project along East 7th St. and Arcade St. between I-94 in St. Paul and Roselawn Ave. in Maplewood. When complete, the new roadway will improve traffic flow, decrease traffic delays and improve safety on the road. Construction is anticipated to be complete in fall 2026.
