2024-2025 Construction: Hwy 59, Hwy 108 Pelican Rapids

Week 17 progress
Concrete is going in on Highway 108 east! Curb and gutter are nearly done and next week, when work resumes on Tuesday after the long weekend, they'll focus on sidewalks. Paving will follow!
On the north end of the project, crews are installing storm sewer on the west side of Highway 59 in Stage 2C. Once they finish up the underground work, they'll begin shaping up the road and get ready for curb and gutter. Paving to follow there, too!
On Highway 108 west, underground work is the focus, with crews working on installing watermain and sanitary sewer in Stages 3A and 3B.
Heads up for those who live/travel from Highway 108 west: We mentioned this last week in our update, but want to continue to remind you that eventually crews will need to work within the 3rd Street NW intersection, similar to the work that took place in Anne Lane on the east side of the project. We're still a few weeks away, but you'll want to start thinking about your alternate route to/from town for when that short-term closure occurs.

There are several ways you can find information or get your questions answered:
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones where workers are present, and never enter an area that's blocked by barriers or cones.

Travel reminder: Know before you go
Have Labor Day weekend travel plans? Check 511mn.org for statewide traffic impacts. The project in Pelican Rapids is just one of many road construction projects happening across Minnesota. Before you go, check the 511 map to see where you may encounter work zones, detours and more. Always slow down in work zones (even when workers aren't present) and never enter an area blocked by barriers or cones.
