Z ARCHIVE D3 - Hwy 55 in Annandale: 2025 construction

Excelsior Ave.—Crews reconstructed the intersection and installed curb/gutters, sidewalks and underground storm sewer. Crews paved and opened Excelsior Ave. yesterday, Aug. 19. This intersection will remain an all-way stop until they connect the new signal system in September.

Harrison Ave./Oak Ave.—Today, Aug. 20, the Harrison Ave./Oak Ave. intersection will close for two days to install new drainage pipes and replace unsuitable materials to make a solid base for the road. They will return in a few weeks to pour the median curb island up to the railroad tracks.

Poplar Ave. to east of Annandale Blvd.—This week crews are milling, paving, striping and installing rumble strips along the south side of Hwy 55.
 Excelsior Ave. is open! :) Thanks for your patience while it was closed.
Current work zone impacts
Through traffic detour
Hwy 55 remains closed to through traffic between Brown Ave. and Annandale Blvd. in Annandale. The detour uses Wright Co. Rd. 3, Co. Rd. 39, Hwy 24 and Co. Rd. 6.
Open for local traffic
Annandale businesses are still open for everyone within the closed work zone. Local traffic reminders:
- Plan for changes as construction activities may occur without advance notice, so always follow the road signs.
- Expect use of alternate accesses, reduced speeds, gravel or grooved road surfaces, narrowed lanes and lane shifts.
- For everyone's safety, watch for workers and equipment, slow down, drive with caution and stay out of barricaded areas.
- Pedestrians will encounter sidewalk closures; follow signs.

When complete in mid-October, travelers will benefit from a smoother ride; improved motorist and pedestrian access and safety; and updated drainage and city utilities.
