Z ARCHIVE D3 - Hwy 25 in Morrison County: 2025 construction
 What’s new
Starting Tue, Aug. 19, the City of Pierz will begin a utility project to replace the water service lines along Hwy 25, continuing through mid-September. You’ll see occasional lane or shoulder closures, flaggers and construction crews. This area is part of the Hwy 25 detour, so please stay alert for changes. For questions, contact the City of Pierz.
What’s in process
-
Hwy 25 is still closed to through traffic from north of Buckman to Crow Wing Co. Rd. 2 in Shephard through late September. Follow detour signs.
- Local neighborhood traffic will encounter hard closures and changes to access. Follow signs and enter/exit nearest your destination.
- Crews are working on drainage structures near Morrison Co. Rd. 48 (233rd St.) through late August. Detour signs will guide you around the work zone.
What’s next
- In September, crews will begin Hwy 25 work in Genola with a local detour from Hwy 27 for about four weeks.
- Once underground drainage work is complete in late September, crews will start resurfacing the 14 miles of asphalt. Expect slower speeds and alternate one-way traffic with flaggers and a pilot car from sunrise to sunset, until mid-October.
All information is tentative and can change due to contractor scheduling, weather or material supplies.
 Work zone reminders
- Crews will work Mon-Sat on good weather days; except Labor Day holiday weekend
- Expect multiple crews at work along the project
- Be prepared to slow down or stop for flaggers
- Watch for heavy equipment and workers
- Expect grooved or gravel surfaces
- Stay out of closed/barricaded areas
When complete in mid-October, travelers will enjoy a smoother road surface with updated drainage and improved safety.
