What traveler impacts to expect

Hwy 12 will remain open to one lane of traffic each way from east Clementa Ave. SW to east of Zephyr Ave.

Expect narrow lanes, lane shifts, gravel surfaces and flaggers directing traffic. Shoulders and turn lanes will close at times.

Crews will primarily work between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
What crews will do
- Pave Hwy 12 with a new asphalt road surface
- Reconstruct or repair concrete curbs, gutters and entrances
- Add a center turn lane at Zephyr Ave. and Arizona Ave.
- Reconstruct the Hwy 12 intersection at Hwy 25 and Wright Co. Rd. 12/Buffalo Ave. S to improve the truck turning radius and pedestrian crosswalk
Montrose is open
- Access to businesses and residents will be maintained and open along Hwy 12. However, expect use of alternate entrances or side streets, including sidewalk detours.
The Hwy 12 work zone remains open with one lane in each direction through Howard Lake and Waverly. Drivers can expect narrow lanes, lane shifts, gravel surfaces and flaggers directing traffic through late August.
Howard Lake and Waverly are open. Access to businesses and residents will be maintained and open for the remainder of this project. However, you may have to use alternate entrances or side streets, including sidewalk detours.
Crews are reconstructing and widening the sidewalk in the downtown district of Howard Lake between Ninth Ave. and Seventh Ave. The south side is complete with the north side in progress.
Smooth road ahead
In the fall, workers will return to all three communities to apply the final layer of asphalt road surface and permanent markings.
When complete in mid-October, the project will create smoother roads and improve safety for drivers and pedestrians on Hwy 12 in Howard Lake, Waverly and Montrose.
