Highway 87 construction update: August 8
The Highway 87 project in Hubbard is on schedule and expected to be complete mid-October. The work at the dam is still expected to be complete mid-September. The detour will be in place for the duration of the entire project through mid-October. MnDOT will continue to maintain access for area residents and businesses throughout construction.
*Please note- Hwy 87 eastern project from Hubbard CR 13 to Hwy 64 begins August 11 and is expected to be complete mid-September, weather permitting. The project includes culvert replacements and resurfacing on Hwy 87. A detour will be used during construction, see website for detour map: www.mndot.gov/d2/projects/hwy87-hubbard. The detour will be in place for approximately two weeks.

Traffic impacts: Full detour is in place utilizing Highway 71, Highway 34 and Hubbard County Road 20. Highway 87 is not passable between Lake Street (CR6) and Delaney Lane due to construction on the Long Lake box culvert. *
- Continued work on new box culvert. Removed old box culvert structure. Preparing the foundation for the new structure.
- Continue Stage 2 work- CR 6 to Lake Street in Hubbard. Work includes shoulder widening and ditch shaping.

Traffic impacts: Full detour is in place utilizing Highway 71, Highway 34 and Hubbard County Road 20. Highway 87 is not passable between Lake Street (CR6) and Delaney Lane due to construction on the Long Lake box culvert. *
- Continued work on new box culvert. Preparing foundation. Begin placing forms for the new concrete box culvert and possibly pouring the concrete base.
- Continue Stage 2 work- CR 6 to Lake Street in Hubbard. Work includes milling asphalt surface. Shoulder widening.

Highway 87 between Highway 71 and east of Hubbard will be detoured during construction, but residents and businesses will be able to access their properties. Thru traffic will not be allowed to ensure safety of the workers. Thru traffic will be detoured onto Hubbard County Road 20 and Highways 34 and 71. The project is expected to be complete mid-October, weather permitting.
A nearby project on Highway 87 will also be constructed later this summer. The eastern project includes resurfacing and culvert replacements from Hubbard County Road 13 to Highway 64. This project will take place August through September 2025.
