Z ARCHIVE D3 - Hwy 25 in Morrison County: 2025 construction
Hard closure at Co. Rd. 48 intersection
 Aug. 4-late August
Crews have been working on underground drainage structures just south of Co. Rd. 48 (photo above) and they're ready to move north. Starting Mon, Aug. 4, the intersection of Hwy 25 and Co. Rd. 48 (233rd St.) will close for the next few weeks. Those who live in the neighborhood will need to seek an alternate route or take the local detour along Co. Rd. 47 (213th St.) and Co. Rd. 45 (Melody Rd.).
Through traffic will continue to use the detour between Shephard and Buckman.
Hwy 25 work zone location map. Through traffic detour goes through Harding, Platte, Lastrup and Pierz to north of Buckman in Crow Wing and Morrison counties.
Through traffic
Detour until late September
Hwy 25 remains closed to through traffic between Hwy 25 north of Buckman and Crow Wing Co. Rd. 2 in Shephard to work beneath the road on drainage structures. Follow the signed detour.
Local traffic
Hwy 25 will be maintained and open to those who live, work or visit those within the closed work zone; however, expect hard closures with access detours along the project. Plan for changes as construction activities may occur without advance notice, so always follow the road signs and enter/exit nearest your destination.
Work zone
- Crews will work Mon-Sat on good weather days; except Labor Day holiday weekend
- Expect multiple crews at work along the project
- Be prepared to slow down or stop for flaggers
- Watch for heavy equipment and workers
- Expect grooved or gravel surfaces
- Stay out of closed/barricaded areas
Future impacts
-
Genola detour: signed for local access (start date TBD, about 4 weeks)
-
Lane closures: Late September to mid-October(about 4 weeks)
Once drainage structure work is complete, crews will resurface the asphalt roadway. Expect reduced speeds and segments of alternate one-way traffic with flaggers and a pilot car until mid-October.
All information is tentative and can change due to contractor scheduling, weather or material supplies.
When complete in mid-October, travelers will enjoy a smoother road surface with updated drainage and improved safety.
