Weather permitting, starting on Monday, July 21, the intersection of Highway 108 east and Anne Lane will close to all traffic next week. Crews need to work in the intersection to remove and replace the underground utilities. This will push the road closure and detour back to Cross Point Road, the out-of-town detour route.
If you need to access a residence or side road between Cross Point Road and Anne Lane, you can get there. But all thru-traffic will not be permitted beyond Anne Lane, you will have to turn around and follow the official detour or find an alternate route into town from Highway 108 east.
We apologize for the temporary inconvenience—the work cannot get done without this short-term closure so your patience and understanding are appreciated. The contractor will work as quickly as possible to get the Anne Lane intersection back open for use.
Week 11 progress
Concrete crews have been back on site this work, getting curb and gutter installed on the west side of Stage 2B on Highway 59, and pouring sidewalks too. They'll continue their work into next week and then paving crews will be back too! Once they get the west side paved, we'll move to the next stage just north of this section in Stage 2C.

Stage 2C will be done under similar traffic control as Stage 2B. Crews will close the east side of the road, and the automated signal will be set up on the west side so traffic can take turns.
Your continued cooperation at the automated signal is important. Expect to stop and wait until the light turns green before proceeding. Please obey the signal lights.
Over on the east side of town, in Stages 4A and 4B on Highway 108 east, crews have storm sewer in up to 6th Street, and are now getting the roadway back together. Please continue to use 2 1/2 Street to cross and access businesses on the north side of the highway.
A reminder that as work continues through the entire Stage 4 area into the next couple of weeks, access to the businesses on the north side of the road may have to flip flop between 2 1/2 Street to Fourth Street at various times if crews are working in the intersections. If one is closed, go to the other. Thanks for understanding!
In Stage 4C, from 6th Street to Anne Lane, crews are getting sanitary sewer and watermain installed up to Anne Lane. Then on Monday, weather permitting, they will begin removals at Anne Lane and install and tie in those utilities at the intersection. Storm sewer installation will follow.
Please drive slowly and with extreme caution at all times if traveling in or near the work zone. This is an active area and it is important for you to watch for uneven ground, equipment and workers. Safety is everyone's job!

Important reminders
-
Weekly construction updates: Join us at the Pelican Rapids Public Library each Thursday at noon for in-person construction updates. Business liaison Brent Frazier, and representatives from MnDOT and Landwehr Construction will be there to share updates and answer questions.
-
Businesses remain open during road construction: Access will be maintained to both businesses and residences, but entrances may change or shift as utility replacements and concrete work are underway. How you enter or exit may vary depending on where crews are working, and you may need to park and walk up to some locations. Please check in with your destination to determine the best way to get to them.
-
Thru-traffic and trucks: For those who don’t have a destination in Pelican Rapids, the signed thru-traffic/truck routes outside of town are still an option. Expect delays in Pelican Rapids during peak travel times.
Signing up for this project email list is just one way to stay informed during construction. There are several different ways you can find information or get your questions answered:
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones where workers are present, and never enter an area that's blocked by barriers or cones.
