Z ARCHIVE D3 - Hwy 169 in Princeton: 2025 construction
Good news — project reaches halfway point
We’ve officially reached the halfway point of the Hwy 169 Princeton bridge work project. Crews have wrapped up improvements to the southbound bridge decks and will begin repairs on the four northbound bridges the week of Mon, Aug. 4.
What’s next
-
Traffic changes Aug. 4: We’ll shift head-to-head traffic to the southbound side between 313th Ave. and Baxter Rd. as northbound bridge repairs begin.
-
Reminder: Changing a four-mile work zone takes time—add another five minutes to your planned route.
-
Duration: Expect head-to-head traffic 24/7 through late October.
-
Work: The contractor will repair and update the four northbound bridges over North Rum River Dr., the West Branch Rum River, First St. and South Rum River Dr.
-
On track: Crews remain on schedule to reopen Hwy 169 to four lanes in fall 2025.

Work zone reminders

Zipper merge: Use both lanes until the merge point, then take turns.
-

-
Add travel time to reduce stress: Expect backups or sudden stops during peak hours, including school time, holidays, or weekends.
-
Stay informed: Check 511mn.org for up-to-date travel impacts, speeds and detours.

The $7.3 million project will repair and replace the concrete wearing surface on eight bridges (four each direction) in Princeton. When complete this fall, the project will provide a smoother travel surface, extend the life of the bridges and improve storm water drainage.
