It's Pelican Fest weekend in Pelican Rapids! We hope it's a fun-filled time for all—there are lots of great activities planned so come out to support your community!
Week 10 progress
Crews got back at it after the long Fourth of July weekend. With utilities in the ground on the west side of Stage 2B on Highway 59, crews are getting the road reshaped and compacted, getting ready for concrete crews to return next week.
Your continued cooperation at the automated signal is important. Expect to stop and wait until the light turns green before proceeding. Please obey the signal lights. Traffic flows one direction at a time. If entering in the middle of the work zone (such as Fifth Avenue NE), please stop and wait to ensure you're following the correct direction of traffic.
Thank you for your patience and commitment to safety.

Over on the east side of town, in Stages 4A and 4B on Highway 108 east, crews are getting storm sewer in, from 2 1/2 Street to 6th Street. Please follow the in-town detour route around the work zone.
Pelican Fest events in Sherin Park this weekend: you'll be able to access the north side of the road by crossing at 2 1/2 Street or Fourth Street SE. A temporary passage has been built behind the new pool to connect access from the church's parking lot to the nursing home/clinic lots. Please drive with extra care.
A reminder that as work continues through this area into the next couple of weeks, access to the businesses on the north side of the road may have to flip flop between 2 1/2 Street to Fourth Street at various times if crews are working in the intersections. If one is closed, go to the other. Thanks for understanding!
Please drive slowly and with extreme caution at all times if traveling in or near the work zone. This is an active area and it is important for you to watch for uneven ground, equipment and workers. Safety is everyone's job!

Important reminders
-
Weekly construction updates: Join us at the Pelican Rapids Public Library each Thursday at noon for in-person construction updates. Business liaison Brent Frazier, and representatives from MnDOT and Landwehr Construction will be there to share updates and answer questions.
-
Businesses remain open during road construction: Access will be maintained to both businesses and residences, but entrances may change or shift as utility replacements and concrete work are underway. How you enter or exit may vary depending on where crews are working, and you may need to park and walk up to some locations. Please check in with your destination to determine the best way to get to them.
-
Thru-traffic and trucks: For those who don’t have a destination in Pelican Rapids, the signed thru-traffic/truck routes outside of town are still an option. Expect delays in Pelican Rapids during peak travel times.
Signing up for this project email list is just one way to stay informed during construction. There are several different ways you can find information or get your questions answered:
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones where workers are present, and never enter an area that's blocked by barriers or cones.
