It's been a busy (and wet) summer so far, and the 11th Street underpass project work continues. In June, Main Avenue closed between 10th Street South and 13th Street South as Stage 2 work started. Excavation work is ongoing in this area to bring the road grade down to its new elevations for the underpass. Next week, tie ins to the water services on Main Avenue will take place. Residents and businesses who will be impacted by water interruptions/shut offs during this work will be notified by the business liaison. If you have questions, please contact the 11th Street Underpass hotline number at 218-292-8779.
Crews are also installing pile along the south side of Main Avenue for the future retaining wall. Once the piling is in, it will have to sit as is for 60 days. This is the required waiting period before work can start on the retaining wall to help mitigate cracking and additional settlement.

At the KO bridge, crews poured the last structural foundation, the pier, this week. In August, the bridge beams and side rail are scheduled to arrive on-site for installation, making the final touches to be ready for BNSF to return back in September, when trains will switch from the shoofly back to the KO mainline track.
On the north end of the project, along First Avenue and 11th Street leading up to the Hillsboro railroad bridge, crews are grading both roadways, bringing them to the correct elevations to tie into the underpass. It'll be early fall before they begin work underneath the railroad bridge. On First Avenue, they also pave as the road is shaped and ready.
Then, at the location of the new lift station, work continues on the interior piping and equipment.
As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding as the project progresses.

Train horns have resumed in the Downtown Quiet Zone during construction hours (Monday - Friday, 6am - 7pm). This is a requirement of the railroad, and we appreciate your understanding as worker safety is prioritized.
-
Moorhead businesses are open during construction! If your destination falls within/near the work zone or along the detour routes, please check in with the business to determine the best route there.
-
Never enter an area that's blocked by barriers or cones. It is not safe to drive, walk or bike around barricades, even in areas where workers aren't present or active. Those boundaries are set up for your safety. There are signed detours installed for both motorists and pedestrians. Please use those routes.
-
There may be other projects in Moorhead that could affect your travel routes, so please check in with the City of Moorhead for plans and impacts. Visit their website or follow the City of Moorhead on Facebook.
Please report any issues to the 11th Street Underpass hotline number at 218-292-8779.
