D3 - I-94 Gap – Albertville to Monticello: 2024 -2026 construction

Heads up, westbound I-94 drivers! Overnight Thu, July 17, traffic between Albertville (west of MnROAD) and Hwy 25 in Monticello will shift to the eastbound side of the interstate.
Daily commuters will notice little change, as I-94 remains two lanes each way through the work zone from St. Michael to west of Monticello.
This move allows crews to widen westbound I-94 and the bridge over Wright Co. Rd. 75/railroad tracks in Monticello.
MnDOT reminds drivers to expect lane shifts, no shoulders, concrete barriers and reduced speeds. Watch for real-time travel displays for wait times ahead.
In fall 2025, all lanes will return to their original configuration. In 2026, eastbound lanes will be expanded.
This scheduled date may change due to weather or contractor needs.

Safety first
Drivers traveling too fast and not paying attention are the main causes of work zone crashes. Follow these safe driving tips:

When all six lanes open in fall 2026, the $76 million Corridors of Commerce-funded project will provide a smoother ride, extend the life of the interstate, improve freight access, increase capacity and reduce bottle necks, address area growth and improve motorist safety along I-94 in Wright County.
