Crews have wrapped up on underground utility replacements on the east side of Highway 59 in Stage 2B. They'll get the roadway back together, and then we'll see concrete crews start work along the roadside on curb, gutter and sidewalks.
As a reminder, your patience is important. Motorists should expect to stop at the automated signal, and wait until the light turns green before proceeding. Traffic flows one direction at a time, so if entering in the middle of the work zone, please follow the correct direction of traffic. Even during off-hours, when crews aren't present and traffic volumes are low, please obey the signal lights.

Concrete crews will also be back downtown next week, weather permitting. They have identified sections in the boulevards that need to be replaced, and they'll start that work as early as Monday. There may be parking or other restrictions while crews are working and concrete cures. Please stay alert and DO NOT walk around barriers, ribbons or cones. Your cooperation is important.
In Stages 4A and 4B on Highway 108 east, crews have started on the underground replacements. They're working at 2 1/2 Street now, and will continue east from there.
Highway 108 east business access: Those seeking to access the businesses on the north side of the road, please use 4th Street to cut across the work zone. A temporary passage has been built behind the new pool to connect access from the church's parking lot to the nursing home/clinic lots.
If you are traveling in or near the work zone, using 4th Street to cut across the work zone, or trying to access a residence on a side street, please drive slowly and with extreme caution at all times. This is an active work zone and it is important for you to watch for equipment and workers. Safety is everyone's job!

Important reminders
-
Weekly construction updates: Join us at the Pelican Rapids Public Library each Thursday at noon for in-person construction updates. Business liaison Brent Frazier, and representatives from MnDOT and Landwehr Construction will be there to share updates and answer questions. Please note: there will be no meeting on Thursday, June 19, as the Library is closed in observation of Juneteenth.
-
Businesses remain open during road construction: Access will be maintained to both businesses and residences, but entrances may change or shift as utility replacements and concrete work are underway. How you enter or exit may vary depending on where crews are working, and you may need to park and walk up to some locations. Please check in with your destination to determine the best way to get to them.
-
Thru-traffic and trucks: For those who don’t have a destination in Pelican Rapids, the signed thru-traffic/truck routes outside of town are still be an option. Expect delays in Pelican Rapids during peak travel times.
Signing up for this project email list is just one way to stay informed during construction. There are several different ways you can find information or get your questions answered:
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones where workers are present, and never enter an area that's blocked by barriers or cones.
