Highway 87 reconstruction update: May 23
What's happening this week?
- Project began May 19th, crews focused on reconstructing and widening Hubbard County Road 14 at the intersection of Hwy 71. (See photo) There was a temporary closure for this work but the CR 14 intersection will be open and passable on Friday (5/23) afternoon with a gravel surface.
- Removed pavement for all of Stage 1. (Hwy 71 to CR 6) and (Lake Street in Hubbard to East limits of Project).
- Culvert replacements and grading on Hwy 87 from Hwy 71 to 149th Ave.
What can we expect next week?
- Begin storm sewer installation on Hwy 87 through the town of Hubbard.
- Continue grading and dirt work from Hwy 71 to 159th Ave.
- Culvert replacements from 149th Ave to 159th Ave.
Traffic impacts?
- Detour in place. (See map)
Highway 87 between Highway 71 and east of Hubbard will be detoured during construction, but residents and businesses will be able to access their properties. Thru traffic will not be allowed to ensure safety of the workers. Thru traffic will be detoured onto Hubbard County Road 20 and Highways 34 and 71. The project is expected to be complete mid-October, weather permitting.
A nearby project on Highway 87 will also be constructed later this summer. The eastern project includes resurfacing and culvert replacements from Hubbard County Road 13 to Highway 64. This project will take place August through September 2025.
