Highway 371 construction in Hackensack is underway
What's happening this week?
- Gravel and dirt work completed along the temporary widening on Hwy 371 north of CR 5
- Crews will complete gravel and dirt work along CR 5 for temporary widening
- Paving will complete on both Hwy 371 and CR 5 temporary widening May 14th - weather permitting
- Detour signs and striping will be placed once paving is complete
- Detour starts Thursday or Friday - weather permitting
- If weather holds up, once detour is in place, contractor will start storm sewer and grading at the roundabout
What's happening next week?
- Continue working on storm sewer and grading at the roundabout
- Crews begin lighting installs about May 21st
- Begin city watermain work adjacent to the roundabout (approximately May 22)
- Traffic impacts: Detour should be on if weather permits, along with the local bypass to 1st Street
This urban reconstruction project includes constructing a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 371 and Cass County Road 5. Project elements also include reconstructing and paving Highway 371, sidewalk upgrades, utility improvements and replacing a box culvert near Barthelemy Avenue.
Once finished, this stretch of Highway 371 in Hackensack will include a safer road, safer intersections, longer lasting driving surface, improved drainage and pedestrian accessibility. It is expected to be complete mid-October, weather permitting.
