Z ARCHIVE D3 - Hwy 169 in Princeton: 2025 construction
Work zone remains one lane each way
Please be aware that the work zone on Hwy 169 in Princeton will continue to have a single lane in each direction, 24 hours a day, until late October. Expect lane shifts, reduced speeds, lack of shoulders and delays during peak travel times until the bridge work is completed this fall.
Crews will widen lanes and set up traffic control devices to prepare the work zone between 313th Ave. and Baxter Rd. for the future bridge work.
The next steps include lane shifts around May 9 for head-to-head traffic on the northbound side of Hwy 169 as crews update and repair the southbound bridges.
In late summer, there will be traffic shifts for head-to-head traffic on the southbound side of Hwy 169 as crews update the northbound bridges.
Do the Zipper Merge: use both lanes until the merge point, resist the urge to merge early and take turns at the merge point.

The $7.3 million project will repair and replace the concrete wearing surface on eight bridges (four each way) over North Rum River Dr. (Mille Lacs Co. Rd. 29), the West Branch Rum River, First St. (Sherburne Co. Rd. 31) and S Rum River Dr. (Sherburne Co. Rd. 29) in Princeton, Mille Lacs and Sherburne counties. The project will provide a smoother travel surface, extend the life of the bridges and improve storm water drainage.
