Thank you for signing up to receive project email updates about road construction on Highway 114, north of Lowry. These updates will include traffic changes, construction progress, schedule information and more. Please encourage others to sign up to stay informed!
We have two years of projects coming up on Highway 114. This year's project includes culvert replacements between Highway 55 and I-94, and roundabout construction at the intersection of Highway 27 and Highway 114. Next year, we'll come back for another project to resurface the entire roadway.
Road closes May 12 to thru-traffic
Starting Monday, May 12, weather permitting, Highway 114 will close to thru-traffic until October. If you don't have a destination on Highway 114, please follow the signed thru-traffic detour route on I-94, Highway 29 and Highway 55. Highway 27 will remain open to cross-traffic throughout the duration of construction.
Up first: Culverts
On May 12, crews will get started with culvert replacements. They will begin on the south end of the project, working north.
Each culvert may take up to three days to complete, and the road will be impassable even overnight in the area they're working. If you live on the road, you'll need to find an alternate route around the culvert site. This means you may have to come from the opposite direction you're used to taking, depending on your location and path of travel. And that will vary and change as work continues from culvert-to-culvert.
In these emails, we'll do our best to keep you updated as culvert work progresses, so you're informed week-to-week on where they'll be working. You can ask the workers on-site too if you have questions! They'll know where they'll be located each day and when they'll be wrapping up at each site.
Local traffic should always slow down—please remember you are in an active work zone, even in areas where workers aren't present. Stay alert for loose gravel, heavy equipment and trucks hauling throughout the entire corridor. Thank you for staying committed to safety for all!

Roundabout construction
Once the culvert work is done, crews will get started on the roundabout construction at the Highway 114/Highway 27 intersection. At that time, residents will not be able to access Highway 114 from the Highway 27 intersection. You will have to take the detour and enter from the south, or find an alternate route. We'll share more on this as we get closer to that work starting.
Check the project website for project information, construction updates, and MnDOT contacts. We're here to help!
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones where workers are present, and never enter an area that's blocked by barriers or cones.
