DBE Construction Academy classes
DBE Construction Academy offers a series of classes now through June 2025. These classes will help you assess your business, set goals, understand MnDOT contracting processes, and identify best practices. The following classes are open in April:
Resource management
This advanced class focuses on mastering labor and materials costs. Learn how to accurately assess labor needs and costs for your projects. Understand prevailing wage requirements and how they impact resource management. Learn how to manage the equipment, tools, and materials essential to your projects so that everything is on budget and on schedule. Gain the skills to manage complex project needs with confidence and precision.
Human resource management and team building
In this class, learn the fundamentals of effective human resource management. Learn key recruitment strategies and efficient onboarding techniques. Learn processes for employee evaluation. Gain valuable insights into retention planning. Understand state and federal employment laws to ensure compliance. Leave with the tools to build and manage a strong, thriving team.

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and Workforce Collaborative
The DBE and Workforce Collaborative is an advisory group to MnDOT. The group’s mission is to increase the diversity of firms and people working on MnDOT highway projects. Subcommittees focus on strategies to support DBEs and BIPOC and women workers.
Worksite cooperation committee meeting
This Collaborative subcommittee identifies worksite issues related to workforce diversity. It develops recommendations to ensure construction worksites are respectful and welcoming to all. This committee is a subgroup of the Minnesota DBE and Workforce Collaborative.
Results and transparency committee meeting
The Results and transparency workgroup reviews and monitors the projects, workforce goals, and progress in hiring women and people of color on highway construction projects. This committee is a subgroup of the Minnesota DBE and Workforce Collaborative.
26th Annual SADBOC Government Procurement Fair
SADBOC is the Small and Disadvantaged Business Opportunities Council. Businesses interested in doing business with government agencies and prime contractors are encouraged to attend this trade fair. Meet with representatives from federal, state and local agencies, commercial/prime contractors, and nonprofit organizations. Access available technical assistance. Learn about upcoming contracts. The 26th Annual SADBOC Government Procurement Fair is sponsored by the Federal Executive Board’s Small and Disadvantaged Business Opportunities Council, in cooperation with the State of Minnesota's APEX Accelerator.
