UPDATE on Safe Routes to School Office Hours

Starting in the new year, the MnDOT team will host weekly Office Hours every Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. 📅. Due to the success of the launch of the Office Hours format, we’re excited to increase the frequency and provide a more consistent opportunity to connect. School Safety Patrol – Thank You!

Let's thank all of our students, parents and staff who are supporting Student Safety Patrol efforts to help students safely cross streets on their walking and biking commutes to and from school. The Minnesota Timberwolves have generously offered free tickets for student patrollers at upcoming games AND the opportunity to go on the court and try throwing a free throw after the game. Get Ready for Winter Walk to School Day – Feb. 5, 2025

Minnesota Safe Routes to School invites you to embrace the chill on Feb. 5 for our eighth-annual Winter Walk to School Day! Celebrate the season by getting kids outside—whether it’s a lap before school, a story stroll, or recognizing year-round walkers and rollers.

In Minnesota, winter fun is part of who we are, from ice fishing to sledding. So, bundle up, rally your volunteers, and join the festivities! Register here by Jan. 22, 2025, to receive materials and incentives to help your school get moving.

There’s still time to apply for funding to support projects that make walking and biking to school safer and more accessible for students. Apply by Jan. 17, 2025:

• Planning Assistance: Support the development of your school community SRTS Plan
• Boost Grant: Non-Infrastructure projects for schools to support SRTS programming
• State Infrastructure Grants: Funding for infrastructure projects to support access and safety on routes to and at school.
• Grater Minnesota Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP)
