Week 25 construction progress
In Stage 1C, north of the bridge, crews poured the center circle of the roundabout this week. Tree grates are going in, and crews are getting the north, west and east legs of the roadway ready for paving! Sidewalk work continues in Stage 2A, north of Second Avenue.
Paving crews will be here next week, and will pave the east and west legs of the roundabout on Highway 108 west, and Highway 59 up to Fifth Avenue NE. At this time, you must use Fifth Avenue NE to access the northeast side of town. You cannot cross at Second Avenue or Third Avenue while they prepare for paving.
A reminder that the downtown area is still an active work zone with trucks coming and going. Be aware that next week, the downtown portion will close again while crews seal joints, start final striping and finish other remaining work. We appreciate your patience and cooperation!
On Highway 108 east, in Stage 4A, crews have finish underground utilities. They're now reshaping the roadway, getting ready for concrete. Crews expect to start pouring curb and gutter on Tuesday. Please DO NOT drive or walk around barriers, ribbons or cones. Your cooperation is important. Please continue to access the post office from the west, but remain alert as concrete is being poured.
In addition to the work on Stages 1C, 2A and 4A in town, you'll also start to see crews working along Highway 108 west. They will begin working on the trail construction and some culvert extensions along the roadside. There should be minimal impacts to traffic, but there may be shoulder closures in the areas where crews are working. Please give them plenty of space to work.
Downtown Pelican Rapids is nearly complete, but will close again next week for final work.
Crews poured the center circle of the roundabout and get the west leg ready for paving.
Crews finish up storm sewer replacements on Highway 108 east. Concrete work starts next week in Stage 4A.

Safety & detour reminders
We have detour routes set up for every type of road user. Trucks and thru-traffic should follow the signed routes out of town, city residents and visitors can follow the in-town detour route, and if you are walking, biking or rolling through town, please follow signed pedestrian routes. We know it may be inconvenient at times, and you may need to walk a block or two out of the way to get around, but your cooperation is important for your safety.
Pelican Rapids businesses are OPEN during construction, so follow the various detours to best navigate around the work zone and stop in to support them! To access businesses on the northeast side of town, please use Fifth Avenue NE or 2nd Avenue N (access location may vary depending on where crews are working. If barricades are up, you'll want to go to the other intersection to cross.)
If you don't have a destination in Pelican Rapids and want to avoid backups, we advise using the thru-traffic/truck routes out of town to get to the lakes or other destinations. See the thru-traffic map at top of the email for the thru-traffic route options, depending on your direction of travel.
