D3 - Hwy 10 & Hwy 23 in St. Cloud: 2023–2024 construction
We are now in the final weeks of construction and motorists will continue to encounter changes as they navigate through the Hwy 10 and Hwy 23 work zone each day.
Drivers use new westbound Hwy 10
On Mon, Oct. 7, crews opened the new outside westbound lane of Hwy 10. Crews will continue to switch lanes of traffic around to the inside or outside lanes as they complete work between the shoulder and inside median of Hwy 10 and Hwy 23.
Here's the current work zone:
Hwy 10
One-lane traffic, 24-7, between Benton Dr. SE and 15th Ave. SE:
- All access detours remain in place
Hwy 23
One-lane traffic, 24-7, between Lincoln Ave. SE and 25th Ave. SE:
- New signal systems at the access ramps/loops are ready; however, they will remain off until everything opens.
- Once traffic signals are activated, MnDOT will monitor and adjust timing the first few weeks.
- All access detours remain in place
Local roads, bridge
Work continues on the east/west frontage roads along Hwy 10 between Hwy 23 and 15th Ave. SE, area sidewalks and trail connections, and the Fourth St. bridge over Hwy 10.
The new interchange is set to open by Nov. 3. Crews will continue to work off-road and complete any final work.
Schedule is tentative and subject to change.

Travelers to see granite accents along project
St. Cloud is known as the Granite City. The first quarry opened in 1863 and there are now over 30 granite quarries in the Greater St. Cloud Area. The granite can be seen in many area structures, including the Minnesota Correctional Facility, Stearns County Courthouse and even the Minnesota State Capitol.

The concrete walls along Hwy 10 at the bridges will have a granite-like appearance. Crews will stain the textured concrete in a pattern that resembles natural stone granite (left).

More about this St. Cloud project
When the $43.7 million interchange opens in November 2024, the project will provide a smoother road surface, and improve motorist and pedestrian safety and access throughout. This is a long-term, 60-plus year investment in our Hwy 10 and Hwy 23 infrastructure.
